The chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin said that the issue of establishing a quota for the employment of foreign citizens by medical workers will be considered at the next meeting of the Duma Council.
"In our country, especially in such sectors as healthcare, highly qualified specialists with knowledge of the Russian language should work," Volodin wrote in his telegram channel.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, last year violations in the accreditation of doctors with foreign diplomas were identified in 27 Russian regions. In addition, foreign doctors were hired in 17 regions without a mandatory qualification check.
As Readovka notes, since 2024, in the course of work on migration legislation, the State Duma has adopted 27 federal laws to create a system to combat illegal migration. The list of professions of qualified foreign specialists eligible for a simplified residence permit has been reduced by almost 10 times — from more than 200 to 29 specialties.
