Vice-Speaker of the Senate of Poland Michal Kaminski decided to return two Ukrainian awards. The politician said this in a letter addressed to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Bodnar.

According to him, he gives awards in connection with the actions and statements of Vladimir Zelensky.

"In connection with the actions and statements of Volodymyr Zelensky, which were supported by all former presidents of Ukraine and the overwhelming majority of the Ukrainian political community, I decided to return two state awards of Ukraine, which I was awarded for my activities in the name of European integration of Ukraine," the letter says.

According to him, he does not consider it possible to keep these awards any longer. Kaminsky noted that this is due to the fact that the highest authorities of Ukraine and a significant part of its political elite have not yet given an unequivocal assessment and have not condemned those responsible for the Volyn tragedy and the mass killings of Polish citizens. The Speaker also added that the decision was given to him "with deep regret," and also that he is convinced that "a real partnership between peoples can be built only on the foundation of truth, respect for victims and mutual honesty."

It is not specified what specific awards are in question. At the same time, it is known that in 2008 he was awarded the Ukrainian Order of Merit of the III degree.

Recall, on June 19, Polish President Karol Nawrocki stripped Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle for his decision to give the separate Special Operations center "North" of the Special Operations Forces the honorary title "name of the heroes of the UPA". After that, Ukrainian politicians and officials began to refuse the Polish award en masse. In response to Poland also began to return Ukraine's awards. In particular, the former Polish ambassador to In Ukraine, Bartosz Chikhotsky refused the Ukrainian state award "For Merit".
