Euroclear Bank has been refused a petition to suspend the recovery of about 200 billion euros of losses from it in favor of the Bank of Russia. This was reported to RIA Novosti by one of the participants of the meeting, which was held behind closed doors today, June 18.
"The suspension of enforcement proceedings has been refused," the agency's interlocutor said.
As reported by EADaily, the Moscow Arbitration Court on May 15 fully satisfied the claim of the Central Bank to Euroclear, collecting losses in seven currencies from the defendant in the total amount of about 200 billion euros. On May 26, the court turned the decision to immediate execution. On June 4, the Belgian bank sent a petition to the court "to suspend enforcement proceedings."
The assets of the Bank of Russia were frozen after the SMO began in 2022. Their main volume — according to the Central Bank, about 200 billion euros, taking into account lost profits — is stored in the largest European depository Euroclear.
