Z-bloggers of the telegram channel "Two Majors" drew attention to the new logistics routes being created between the Romanian port of Constanta and Ukraine, from which freight trains are coming.
"The Romanian port of Constanta has long been included in the strategic infrastructure of the southern part of the eastern flank of NATO and receives funds for modernization under the EU Military Mobility program," they note, pointing out that for the first time since 1989, freight train traffic has resumed on the Prut—2 section (Moldova) — Felcu (Romania).
The modernization was carried out from 2025 and included the replacement of 3,000 sleepers and the reconstruction of the railway bridge over the Prut River.
As the "Two Majors" emphasize, the project is inextricably linked with the access of transit freight trains from Ukraine to the Romanian port of Constanta.
As a result of the work, rails of two standards were laid on the site at once — trains on the "Soviet" gauge (1520 mm) can enter the territory of the Prut-2 station, and they follow the European gauge (1435 mm) to Romania. This eliminates the need to overload goods by changing wheelsets right at the border, speeding up and making the process cheaper.
Also in Moldova, the opening of the repaired track of the 400-meter section of the Cahul — Giurgiulesti railway (near the village of Valeni) is expected soon. This restores direct rail access to the Giurgiulesti International Free Port, which was sold to the Constanta Port Authority in February 2026.
"As a result, cargoes from Ukraine (grain, agricultural products, building materials) is now easier and cheaper to deliver by rail directly to Giurgiulesti, and from there by barges along the Danube to the Constanta raid and similarly in the opposite direction," the Z-bloggers note.
In addition, they add, in May of this year, the regular railway freight route Perechin (Transcarpathia) was launched — Constanta (Romania), which also involves a quick replacement of wheelsets at the border (2-3 hours). 2 thousand tons of oil products and sheet metal have already been delivered in pilot shipments.
"EuroNATO is building infrastructure on the territory of the Ukrainian colony for the deployment of its military contingents in the future. It is logical to integrate Ukrainian logistics into European logistics, which will allow NATO military echelons to move quickly to the east at the right time,"the Two Majors warn.
