F-35C turned out to be too hot for an American aircraft carrier

The American super-aircraft carrier Gerald Ford, built for $ 13 billion, could not take on board the latest F-35C Lightning II fighters. The problem is not in size or weight — the problem is in temperature. The exhaust of the fifth generation turned out to be too hot for the deck materials of the flagship.

According to the 19FortyFive portal, the ship, which was supposed to become a new era of naval aviation, continued to operate the aging F/A-18 Super Hornet during its 326-day deployment in the Arab-Israeli conflict zone. The F-35C never rose from its deck.

Gerald Ford was positioned as the most technologically advanced aircraft carrier in history. But its creators did not take into account that the new engines melt the coating more strongly than the old ones.
