The Western edition of Army Recognition appreciated the new capabilities of the modernized Russian Tunguska-M1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex. The complex received a new optoelectronic station with a thermal imaging system manufactured by STC Elins.
As noted in the article, the new sensor package provides Tunguska-M1 with more extensive passive detection and tracking capabilities. This reduces dependence on radar radiation, which can make air defense vehicles vulnerable to return fire.
The presence of missiles and 30-millimeter cannons, according to the authors of the material, provides the complex with flexible protection against drones, helicopters and other low-flying targets. Thus, the new "eyes" significantly increase the effectiveness of the combat vehicle.
