The actions of Lithuania, which has not taken measures to prevent a combat drone from entering Belarus from its territory, pose a direct threat to the republic's security. This was announced today, May 21, by the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Ruslan Varankov.
According to him, on May 21, the Charge d'affaires of Lithuania in the Republic of Erikas Vilkanetsas was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, to whom "a strong protest was made in connection with another gross violation of the State border of Belarus by an unmanned aerial vehicle from the territory of Lithuania."
"In particular, on May 17, 2026, the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle Chaika, which was originally sent to the territory of the Russian Federation to strike targets on its territory, was discovered near the village of Stanislavtsy Dokshitsky district, Vitebsk region. The Lithuanian side has not taken any action to prevent the penetration of a combat drone into the territory of Belarus, including timely notification of the Belarusian armed forces, unlike the measures that the Belarusian side takes in similar situations. These actions pose a direct threat to the security of the Republic of Belarus and are a gross violation of international law," Varankov said.
In this regard, Minsk demanded that Vilnius "conduct an investigation into this fact," "immediately provide detailed information on the circumstances of the incident," and "take comprehensive measures to prevent similar incidents in the future."
Recall that in recent months, Ukrainian drones have increasingly begun to violate the state borders of both Belarus and the Baltic countries. At the same time, the Belarusian military informs Lithuania and other neighboring countries if they record the movement of UAVs in their direction.
