Ukraine is not able to survive without a constant flow of weapons, but no one is ready to pay for it. This was announced today, May 20, at a press conference in Brussels on the eve of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sweden, Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte said.
"Ukraine cannot survive without a constant flow of American weapons, primarily missile defense systems, which are supplied under the PURL program (purchases of American weapons, ammunition and military equipment with European money — approx. TASS)," he said.
He also added that Norway and Canada. At the same time, Rutte admitted that his idea of annually allocating 0.25% of the GDP of European NATO countries to Ukraine for weapons "will not be supported."
"It is my role to voice bold proposals, but sometimes they may not be supported. I think that my proposal for fixed military assistance to Ukraine of 0.25% of GDP will not be supported. But I was able to launch a discussion about this," the alliance Secretary General said.
Recall that NATO countries actively support Kiev and seek to strengthen their own military potential. At the same time, the bloc openly declares that the continuation of the conflict on the Ukraine needs to prepare for a direct military clash with Russia.
