In the Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine, during a special operation, an armed man was killed, who had previously shot a policeman and wounded his colleague while checking documents.
According to the press service of the National Police, the incident occurred on Friday, May 15, in the village of Terlovka of the Letich territorial community of Khmelnitsky district.
A police patrol stopped the driver, who had previously been deprived of the right to drive a car by a court decision. Suddenly, the man opened fire from automatic weapons on law enforcement officers. One policeman was killed and another was injured.
After that, the criminal tried to hide in the forest belt, throwing a hand grenade into the foresters' transport. However, those managed to avoid injury. Special forces were sent to search for the shooter.
When the attacker saw the armored police car, he opened fire again. The shooter was eliminated by return fire, the National Police stated.
"The special police forces of the Khmelnitsky region liquidated an armed criminal who, after killing a policeman, fled into a forest strip and tried to blow up a foresters' car with a grenade," the press service said.
Earlier, EADaily reported that in the village of Verba, Rivne region, in the western part of Ukraine, a man opened fire from a machine gun on TRC employees who acted with the support of police officers.
