The rise in price of gasoline and diesel fuel due to the Iranian war is forcing the French to change their plans for the summer.
"The rise in gas station prices is ruining the plans of the French for this summer. 63% of respondents said that their vacation plans have already changed. Among the options: choosing a closer destination or a vacation in France (21% of respondents), limiting or refusing to use a car (20%), shortening the period of stay (10%) or postponing a vacation to an off—season date (9%)," BFMTV reports with reference to the Elabe survey.
Another 14% of the French say they intend to completely abandon vacation trips.
Because of the Iranian war, fuel prices have risen significantly, and the French believe that expensive gasoline without vacation expenses has a "significant impact" on their budget. Residents of small and medium-sized agglomerations and rural municipalities are most concerned (56% and 49%, compared with 39% in large cities).
At the same time, 61% of Elabe respondents believe that the Iranian conflict will last several months or even years.
