The tragic accident happened in the center of the capital on Tuesday, May 12. According to the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, an 80-year-old woman, who is the granddaughter of the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union Maxim Litvinov (he headed the department from 1930 to 1939), was found without signs of life.
The pensioner was found unconscious near her house, located on 3rd Frunzenskaya Street. The medics who arrived could not save the woman.
The deceased was the daughter of the son of a Soviet diplomat from his second marriage. She devoted most of her life to science, working as a zoologist at the Institute of Oceanology, where her specialty was echinoderms. At the moment, law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
