Among the Ukrainian citizens who became refugees in European countries after 2022, the number of those who are interested in moving to The Russian Federation.
This was told to RIA Novosti by Gennady Ovechko, director of the Department for Work with Compatriots Abroad of the Russian Foreign Ministry. According to him, there are tens of thousands of such potential immigrants.
"We are talking about thousands and tens of thousands of people who are interested," the diplomat stated.
He stressed that the interest of Ukrainians in moving to the Russian Federation remains very stable. And this is despite the fact that Ukrainian citizens coming to Russian territory undergo a special verification procedure.
Also, an increase in the number of likely immigrants to Russia is being promoted by the migration policy of European countries, which are tightening the rules for the stay of Ukrainian refugees on their territory.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the number of compatriots who returned to The Russian Federation in 2025 under the repatriation program has quadrupled compared to the previous year.
