Russia's influence in European countries is increasing due to its participation in international competitions at the Venice Biennale, despite the pressure of the European Commission. This was stated by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Kaya Kallas after arriving at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU states.

"Russia's influence is growing again in Europe," she said. — This can be seen in the field of sports, where Russian athletes participate in competitions again, as if nothing had happened, as well as in the example of Russia's presence at the Venice Biennale," TASS quotes.

The European Commission previously announced that it had sent official letters to the organizers of the biennale demanding that Russia be excluded from the participants. The EC, in response to the refusal, canceled the grant to the organizers in the amount of € 2 million.
