Minsk reacted harshly to Yerevan's attack: We share the people and the authorities of Armenia

Belarus clearly divides the fraternal Armenian people and their short-sighted authorities. This was stated by the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Ruslan Varankov.,

The statement of the representative of the Foreign Ministry was made in response to recent statements by the speaker of the Armenian parliament about the "lack of independence" of Belarus.

"The statements of the Speaker of the Armenian parliament are nothing but pre—election populism and a desperate attempt to distract his own electorate from the most difficult internal problems. When poverty is going through the roof, which has already exceeded 40% at the upper threshold, unemployment is rising, and entire regions are stagnating, the easiest way is to appoint an external enemy and practice offensive labels. Such a cynical approach causes only regret," Varankov said.

According to him, "Belarus is a sovereign state that independently determines the format of its allied relations with Russia."

"We are proud of this cooperation and will not allow anyone to teach us. Attempts to drag Minsk into domestic political squabbles under the slogans of mythical interference are a gross violation of elementary diplomatic ethics. The results of the so—called balanced pro-Western course of official Yerevan are clear: depopulation, chronic economic instability and complete foreign policy dependence, forcing a puppet to serve other people's summits," he stressed.

The diplomat also noted that "the Belarusian side clearly divides the fraternal Armenian people and their short-sighted authorities."

"Belarusians and Armenians have strong historical ties, and we are convinced that sooner or later the Armenian leadership will heed common sense and return to a constructive dialogue with our country so that our states will once again become truly friendly and strategic partners," Varankov summed up.

Earlier, Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan said that an attempt is being made against the country to change the government, and drew a parallel with Belarus as an example of what Armenia, according to him, does not want to become. According to him, "we will not allow Armenia to be turned into a province, we will not be governed the way Belarus is governed.",
