The new antitumor mRNA vaccine "Neoonkovak" gave the first results of treatment, said Alexander Ginzburg, director of the Gamaleya Center, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"There are small shifts in terms of the production of the necessary cytokines," he said.
According to Ginzburg, immunological results will be evaluated later, as the vaccine will be administered to the patient about ten more times.
In early April, it became known that the drug "Neoonkovak" was first administered to a 60-year-old resident of the Kursk region with skin melanoma. The man is undergoing treatment and is now under observation at home.
The vaccine is made individually for each person, the drug contains information about specific tumor antigens, which allows you to "tune" the patient's immune system to recognize and destroy, including microscopic foci of tumors. The vaccine is available by compulsory medical insurance.
