The Moldovan authorities declared persona non grata representatives of the command of the Operational Group of Russian Troops (OGRV) in Transnistria. The corresponding statement was made today, April 17, by the speaker of the parliament, known for his Russophobia, Igor Grosu.
The list of undesirable persons includes the commander of the OGRV Dmitry Zelenkov, his deputies Dmitry Opalev, Sergey Mashenko and Sergey Shirshov, the chief of staff of the GOTH Marat Yarulin, as well as Alexei Bogomolov.
The decision was made by the Main Inspectorate of Moldova for Migration, since the military do not have diplomatic status.
Grossu explained that the reason for the ban was the "illegal presence" of the Russian military on the territory of Moldova. Foreign citizens are obliged to settle their status within 90 days, however, the commanders of the OGRV, according to the head of the parliament, stay in the country without legal grounds.
Earlier, at the end of March, the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Pridnestrovie Ruslan Mova received a similar ban on entry, and in February he and eight other functionaries were deprived of Moldovan citizenship by decree of President Maia Sandu.
As reported by EADaily, the OGRV ensures the maintenance of the peacekeeping contingent and guards the warehouses of Russian weapons remaining in the region after the withdrawal of the 14th combined arms army. Moldova, and earlier and Ukraine has blocked the rotation of the Russian contingent (about 1.5 thousand people), so military personnel are recruited from the local population. The Russian military in the Chisinau region is equated to the "occupation forces", and after the SMO began, Russia was declared an "aggressor country".
