The first session of the Hungarian National Assembly of the new convocation, during which deputies will elect the Prime Minister, will be held within 30 days from the date of voting. This was announced on April 12 by the country's president Tamas Shujok.
The Head of State noted that after the official results were summed up, he would organize meetings with the leaders of all political forces that managed to get into the unicameral parliament. The proposal on the composition of the new Cabinet of Ministers will be prepared in accordance with the Constitution and political traditions of Hungary, the president added.
"Whatever the election result, it will mean legitimate authority in choosing the course that Hungary will follow in the next period," TASS quoted Shujok as saying.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on April 12 that the results of the parliamentary elections in the country are understandable and painful for his Fidesz party. According to him, the party intends to continue serving the country and the people, even while in opposition. Before that, he congratulated his opponent, the leader of the opposition Tisa party, Peter Magyar, on his victory in the parliamentary elections.
