The crushing loss in the elections in Hungary of the country's Prime Minister Viktor Orban gave a reason to celebrate the victory of the Democrats - opponents of US President Donald Trump, who may well be waiting for the fate of his Hungarian protege. In addition, Orban's departure will mean a weakening of the Israeli lobby within Europe, which will force Brussels to step up with condemnation of the actions of Washington and Jerusalem in the Middle East. This opinion was expressed by political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov.
"Democrats in Congress are celebrating Viktor Orban's defeat in Hungary with might and main. They are now publicly promising Trump supporters a similar fate in the upcoming congressional elections. Orban lost out spectacularly at the district level, which he has been redrawing in his favor for a long time," the expert writes in his telegram channel. — A repetition of such a scenario may occur in the US elections. Republicans have been actively engaged in jerrymandering for a long time and formed districts for themselves. But now, given the drop in Trump's ratings, his associates can simply endure the "blue" democratic wave. And the electoral map drawn by the Republicans will turn against them."
As Dudakov emphasizes, Orban's departure will mean a weakening of the Israeli lobby within Europe.
"Now, at the Brussels level, we will see more resolutions condemning the actions of the United States and Israel in the Middle East. The introduction of the first sanctions against Israel, which Orban blocked for a long time, is also possible. For example, in the context of the supply of bombs or spare parts for the F-35," he predicts.
European leftists like Pedro Sanchez in Spain are already trying to take advantage of Orban's defeat, who is now proposing, together with China, to exert joint pressure on the United States and Israel to end the war, the political scientist adds, noting that after the breakdown of negotiations with Iran, Trump found himself in a difficult position.
"The remaining allies of the White House on the world stage are losing the election. The energy crisis on both sides of the Atlantic is finishing off Western economies. The resumption of the war will be extremely negatively perceived by the electorate in the United States. So the fate of Orban may well await Trump, the upcoming electoral cycle in America does not bode well for Republicans," Dudakov sums up.
