Prospects for establishing "good relations" between Russia and Hungary always has, but for this the parties need to show mutual respect. This was stated by the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin.
"Hungary and Russia always have prospects for establishing good relations. It is important to show mutual respect and take into account mutual interests without media and political antics and sharp reversals depending on the conjuncture," the parliamentarian said, answering a question from TASS about the prospects of relations between the two countries after the victory of the Hungarian opposition in the elections.
As reported by EADaily, earlier the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that the Kremlin "respects the choice" made by the inhabitants of Hungary. "We hope that we will continue our very pragmatic contacts with the new leadership of Hungary," he added.
The opposition Tisa party, led by Peter Magyar, won the parliamentary elections in Hungary on April 12, receiving 138 out of 199 seats in the State Assembly (unicameral parliament), the country's national electoral bureau reported. Prime Minister Viktor Orban admitted the defeat of his FIDESZ — Hungarian Civil Union party.
