The success of the negotiations in Islamabad depends on the seriousness of the US intentions, the rejection of "maximalism" and the recognition of Iran's rights, Reuters reports, citing Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagai.

On Saturday, Iran and the United States began negotiations after US President Donald Trump announced on the night of April 8 that he had reached an agreement with Tehran on a two-week ceasefire.
The Iranian delegation is headed by Chairman of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The delegation also included Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, head of the National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian and head of the country's Central Bank Abdolnaser Hemmati. The US delegation, which also included special envoy of President Donald Trump Steve Witkoff and son-in-law of the American leader Jared Kushner, is headed by US Vice President Jay Dee Vance.
