On the eve of regular talks with Tehran, US President Donald Trump outlined a key condition for concluding a "good deal" with the Islamic Republic.
The corresponding statement was made by the head of the White House, answering journalists' questions. According to him, Washington's main requirement is Tehran's refusal to develop and obtain nuclear weapons.
The American leader stressed that the implementation of this paragraph ensures 99% of the success of any agreements, and that the issue of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons has long been a priority for the United States.
"No nuclear weapons. That's first of all," Trump said.
It is worth noting that this looks like a "pitch" for the Iranian side, since the authorities of the Islamic Republic have repeatedly announced that they do not seek to possess a nuclear bomb.
From Trump's words, it turns out that if Tehran undertakes not to do what it is not going to do anyway, it will remain at the negotiating table to settle the small details, which will amount to no more than "one percent" of the total volume of unresolved issues.
However, this may be part of Trump's political game, which in its rhetoric easily moves from threats to promises, and then again threatens with catastrophic punishments.
Earlier, EADaily reported that US President Donald Trump made regular threats on social networks against Iran on the eve of the talks. He claims that Tehran "has no trump cards" except for blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
We also reported that Iranian officials have already arrived in Islamabad ahead of talks with the United States. The delegation is headed by Chairman of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf.
