TK "Zapiski Veterana": Our army has lost one of the key advantages

SpaceX allowed the Starlink terminals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to work over the territory of Russia. And now, when the terminal verified in the "white list" is located over the territory of Russia, it does not turn off, but continues to work, writes TK "Zapiski Veterana", indicating that "this is now a very big problem."

The author recalls that in response, our army began switching to its own compact Spirit-030 satellite terminals, which partially returned communication to the line of combat contact, "but this medal has a downside."

"Despite the presence of Spirit-030, something has happened that experts have been warning about for a long time. Our army has lost one of the key tactical advantages — the control of long-range attack drones at operational depth (up to 150-200 km). Geostationary satellites "Spirit-030" give a delayed signal and are vulnerable to electronic warfare. Communication through them is nothing compared to Starlink, which provided high-resolution video in real time at any point. Superiority in "long-range drones" has passed to the enemy. Now we are forced to direct aviation and long—range strikes using old technologies, sometimes acting blindly and incurring unnecessary losses," the TC notes bitterly.

To solve this problem, the author writes, it is necessary to speed up the creation and implementation of a new generation of satellites (laser communication, noise immunity) and actively train troops to work with them.:

"It's a matter of time, which we practically do not have. All we can do now quickly and that will give us a guaranteed result is to focus on destroying the enemy's BPS calculations and communication nodes. The identification and destruction of enemy UAV operators should become a priority, as the enemy is increasingly focusing on removing operators from the line of contact as much as possible."

The enemy has found our weak spot and is trying to outplay us in the "drone war".

"Losing superiority in this area is critical for us now. We need to speed up the creation and deployment of new-generation Russian satellites and more actively jam the enemy's communications on the front line. Only technological parity and even superiority will give us back the lost initiative," sums up the author of the "Zapiski Veterana".
