The American edition of Defense News named the factor due to which the choice of official New Delhi fell on the purchase of Russian S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs). We are talking about the high efficiency of weapons needed as part of the modernization of the Indian Armed Forces.
New Delhi intends to spend $ 25 billion on these events.
The acquisition of new air defense systems was officially approved by the country's Defense Procurement Council, which is headed by Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
"These complexes will complement the five S-400 ordered by India in 2018 — three of them are deployed along the northern and western borders of the country, and the delivery of two is scheduled for this year," Singh said.
Thus, India wants to strengthen its defense capabilities as a neighbor of China, Pakistan and Myanmar.
"The S-400 systems have proven their effectiveness by intercepting air threats and shooting down some missiles fired by Islamabad, so now India knows that they are working well," the source quotes the opinion of military analyst Danakar Peri.
