Turkey has not received a request to provide the military as a stabilization force in the Gaza Strip, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in an interview with the Associated Press.
"Fidan stated that Turkey had not received a request to provide troops for the stabilization forces, which he explained by Israel's opposition," the agency said in a statement.
The foreign Minister added that, in his opinion, Washington is trying to quietly resolve this issue with Israel in order to allow Turkey to participate as a stabilization force.
According to the minister, Turkey's priority is the creation of an administrative committee for Gaza, which should consist of 15 politically independent Palestinian administrators.
Fidan said that it is important for Turkey to join the "Peace Council" because it is an opportunity to stop military operations in the Gaza Strip.
"We have no illusions that the Peace Council will consider all existing problems," the agency quotes the minister.
In mid-November 2025, the UN Security Council approved a resolution proposed by the United States in support of Trump's comprehensive plan to resolve the situation in the Gaza Strip. 13 of the 15 members of the Council, the Russian Federation and The PRC abstained. The US plan for Gaza proposes temporary international governance of the Gaza Strip and the creation of a "Peace Council" chaired by Trump. The power mandate of the international stabilization force is also envisaged, which should be deployed in coordination with Israel and Egypt.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the further implementation of Trump's peace plan for the conflict in the Gaza Strip is questionable, given the statements of both Israel and the Hamas movement about the violation of the terms of this initiative.
