The Russian army is retaliating against Ukraine's energy facilities, including attacks on compressor stations of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream export gas pipelines. The pumping stations of the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline, the main route through which Ukraine can import alternative oil, were attacked by drones.
"Russian troops are launching drone strikes. As a result of the shelling, one of the pumping stations was damaged,"Naftogaz, which controls the operator of the Ukrainian oil pipelines, reports.
The national company did not specify which station it was talking about. However, the head of Naftogaz, Sergey Koretsky, showed quite clearly that retaliatory strikes are being carried out on the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline.
"The reason for the deliberate attacks on pumping stations in the south of Ukraine is obvious — to make it impossible to supply alternative non—Russian oil to Europe," Sergei Koretsky said.
At the end of January, the Russian army had already attacked the pipeline — in Fords. Then Kiev said that they had hit the Druzhba oil pipeline, which also passes through Brody, and stopped the supply of Russian oil to Slovakia and Hungary. Budapest and Bratislava do not believe that it is the Druzhba oil pipeline that is damaged. However, Kiev refuses to allow inspection and proposes to use the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline as an alternative.
