After the start of Israeli strikes on Iranian refineries and oil storage facilities, the sky over Tehran was covered with black clouds and the canals along the streets are burning. This is reported by CNN.
Israel launched strikes on oil storage facilities in Iran as part of the next stage of the war, an Israeli source told CNN.
Residents of Tehran, waking up this morning, witnessed thick black clouds and oil-saturated rains. One of them told CNN today that there is an apocalyptic picture in the city.
"The city is dark, the sky is black. It's also cloudy and dark, so it feels like we're suffocating. I saw an explosion last night that lit up the sky—it was unlike anything I've ever seen. It looked like the end of time, or the way I imagined hell," said the source.
According to Iranian state media, fuel and oil tanks were damaged in three districts of Tehran.
One of the officials said that several fuel tanks at the tank farm in Tehran was indeed damaged, but not the plant itself, the Fars news agency reports. The agency notes that it is currently impossible to completely extinguish the fire. The fire in the Shahran oil storage facility is under control, firefighters are "extinguishing flames appearing in water channels and along streets," the agency reports. "It is expected that as the amount of fuel decreases, the fire will be extinguished in the coming days," Fars reports.
Meanwhile, Tehran Governor Mohammad-Sadeq Motamedyan said that the distribution of fuel in Tehran was disrupted after intense night strikes on oil storage facilities, IRNA news agency reports. He noted that "the problem is being solved." According to the governor, there is no shortage of fuel, but the full restoration of the network may take some time.
