The chaotic resignation of Christie Noem from the post of head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plunged the White House into crisis. A corruption scandal immediately broke out. It turned out that Noem provided a generous state contract for $ 220 million for the PR department to her entourage. Political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov writes about this in his telegram channel.
"Moreover, the former political strategist of US President Donald Trump of the first term and lover of Noem Corey Lewandowski was supposed to be in charge of this contract. Rampant nepotism has already reached some kind of exorbitant level. Noem still has a family and three children, but this did not prevent her from having quite a public affair on the side. And provide your lover with multimillion—dollar government contracts," the expert notes.
Noem's dismissal was hasty, her replacement, Indian—born Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin, did not even know that he would be made the new head of DHS. A serious shake-up of the ministry will be expected from him. Deportation raids and the activity of ICE agents caused riots across America and hit Trump's ratings, Dudakov points out.
"Democrats are encouraged by Noem's resignation and want more and more concessions. Trump hoped that after the change of leadership, DHS would be able to persuade lawmakers to allocate money to the ministry and stop the shutdown. But that was not the case. Congress is demanding a complete halt to deportation raids. And the left is already agitating for the complete abolition of the migration police," the political scientist comments.
But she also received a sinecure in the new organization "Shield of America", which should unite the countries of the western hemisphere, where the right is in power, he adds.
"The name is already telling, as is the attempt to create a kind of new education on the knee. In the civil war in Minnesota, Noem lost, now there is nothing left but to hoe the Latin American right," the expert concludes.
