JSC "Russian Railways" (Russian Railways) has put up for sale the building of the Riga railway Station in Moscow. This is stated in the message on the official website of the company in the section on the sale of real estate.
"The station buildings have not been used for passenger transportation for a long time, which opens up the possibility for their adaptation to new operating purposes," the report says.
The buyer is offered two buildings — the Rizhsky railway station itself, as well as a non-residential two-storey building and a land plot with an area of 13.7 thousand square meters.
It is specified that both buildings are objects of cultural heritage and are fully ready for operation.
The initial price of the lot is 4.009 billion rubles.
The station building was built in 1897-1901 according to the project of St. Petersburg architect Stanislav Brzozovsky. The construction of the station was carried out under the supervision of architect Julius Diederichs. This is an outstanding monument of neo-Russian style, combining the aesthetics of the XVII century with the functionality of Art Nouveau. It looks like a boyar's tower with kokoshniks and platbands. At the time of construction, the building was distinguished by modern technical solutions, including its own power plant and metal canopies over the platforms.
It was this "provincial" look that made the station a popular movie decoration: they filmed "For family reasons" (1977), "Station for two" (1982), "Admiral" (2008), and in "Seventeen Moments of Spring" (1973) he played two foreign stations at once, from one of which Stirlitz seeing off the radio operator Kat. During its existence, the building has hardly changed, but has repeatedly changed its name — from Vindavsky to the current Riga.
