The Hydrometeorological Center of Russia issued a storm warning about abnormally cold weather in Moscow and In the Moscow region during the period from January 30 to February 3, the temperature will be 7-12 degrees below normal and will drop below minus 20 degrees, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand told Interfax.

"A well-defined anticyclone is forming over the north of western Siberia, and air will flow to Moscow from the east and northeast along the eastern periphery of the anticyclone. Starting from Friday, the anticyclone will be more pronounced and this means that a significant drop in temperature is predicted on January 30 and 31. And the first day of February will also be cold. It is also not necessary to wait for the temperature to rise on February 2 and 3," Vilfand said.

Due to the cold weather, as Vilfand clarified, a storm warning about abnormally cold weather has been issued in the Moscow region.

"Abnormally cold weather is expected with an average daily air temperature of 7-12 degrees below the climatic norm. In Moscow, on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the temperature will be 10-12 degrees below normal," Vilfand said.

In addition, during this period in Moscow and The Moscow region will be cloudy with clarifications, light snow in places, but no heavy snowfall is forecast. The wind will be north and northeast 5-10 m/s.
