J.D. Vance goes: Moscow was urged not to let the overseas hand strangle the Caucasus

The Caucasus is not a "gray fence" between the powers, not a platform for the exchange of raw materials, but the flesh of Russian historical geography, writes the telegram channel "Conversation with Ties" on the eve of the visit of US Vice President Jay D. Vensa in Yerevan.

As the author of the channel notes, today, a few weeks before the arrival, "Washington is dramatically increasing its presence in the region: buying out local media, opening grant funds, recruiting lobbyists."

"This is not humanism, but pure geopolitics of military and technology corporations that use the ICE department as a club against their own population inside the United States... And the same influential groups are trying to export the crisis to the South Caucasus. The task is simple: to gain a foothold in Armenia, destroy the fragile balance of Baku —Moscow—Tbilisi, squeeze Iran, and then bargain with the Kremlin through transit levers. Therefore, Prime Minister Pashinyan puts forward an ultimatum to Russian Railways: restore the routes to the borders of Turkey and Azerbaijan, otherwise Yerevan will do it itself and reconsider the presence of Russia. It is enough for Americans to invest symbolic millions in sleepers by signing a memorandum before the autumn congressional elections, and the region goes under the "protection" of the Marines," the publication says.

According to the author of the channel, the line of collision passes through Gyumri, Tbilisi and Makhachkala, "Washington is probing how far Russia is ready to retreat."

In these conditions, Moscow is invited to clearly state: the Caucasus is the space of Russia's vital interests, in particular, it is said about the need to modernize key sections of the railway network.

"Russian Railways construction teams and private contractors can upgrade the Gyumri and Meghri nodes in one construction season. Our project will pay off in three to four years, while the American "showcase" will fall on the shoulders of the Armenian taxpayer and hang in Congress," the author of the channel writes.

In addition, Moscow is offered to "go to the media field."

"While grant structures write beautiful infographics about the "freedom of corridors", Russian journalists should work with a live audience, explaining that the American "investor" brings missile defense radars and a debt loop to the region," the author of the publication believes.

According to him, for the sake of the security of the South of Russia, it is necessary to act.

"When Moscow demonstrates real benefits — cheap transit, energy discounts, infrastructure — any external "sponsor" looks like a seller of mirages. The Caucasus has always been a part of our breathing, if we allow an overseas hand to squeeze this artery, we will suffocate ourselves," the author of The Conversation writes.
