Dilemma without options: Kiev will have to put up with the "dictatorial world" — BZ

Ukraine will probably have to put up with the "dictatorial world." It is reported by the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung with reference to experts.

"The dictatorial world." This expression has been discussed for several weeks in relation to the conflict on Ukraine — both in public and in non-public conversations. A real peaceful settlement is still far away, but there is clearly movement in the discussion. As a result, it seems that two scenarios remain for Ukraine — a bad one and an even worse one. A dilemma that, apparently, no longer has a solution," the publication quoted InoSMI as saying.

A peace agreement is possible only if Kiev is ready to make extreme concessions, says Gerhard Mangott, an expert on Eastern Europe. As such, he calls territorial losses, refusal of membership in NATO and the deployment of a foreign military contingent. Kiev has practically no room for maneuver, the expert emphasizes.

Mangott also does not share the statements of European politicians that the successes of the Russian Armed Forces are insignificant — according to him, in 2025 the Russian army occupied about 6 thousand square kilometers. The continuation of the war in such conditions is extremely risky, the expert warns, since Russia is ready to subordinate almost everything to its goal, and the risk of an operational breakthrough of the front remains. As for Europe, according to him, it is not able to fully compensate for the decline in US interest in the conflict.

Ukraine's negotiating position can only deteriorate over time, he is sure, Russia will put forward even more unacceptable demands in any case, and prolonging the conflict will only lead to greater losses.

Russia is in the most advantageous position today, military analyst Marcus Reisner notes, in turn. According to him, Europe is internally divided and has a shortage of military production, the United States is distracted by internal and external problems, and Ukraine is living "from paycheck to paycheck" and is struggling for survival, while China, allegedly supporting Russia (both Moscow and Beijing have repeatedly stated that China does not provide military support to Russia. — EADaily) demonstrates a degree of cohesion comparable to the Russian Federation.
