The Ministry of Defense reported on the destruction of MLRS HIMARS in the Chernihiv region. As military correspondent Alexander Kots notes. The military department stressed that the target was hit by a Geranium jet, but there is an opinion that it was not her at all.
"The objective control footage shows that the munition looks more like a cruise missile. It is possible that the latest air-based S-71M Monochrome UAV, designed specifically for the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, was used to destroy HIMARS. The drone has an elongated fuselage with a pointed nose and a hexagonal cross-section of the main part. A wing that can be unfolded in flight is installed on the sides. The plumage is foldable, V—shaped," Kots said.
Monochrome is equipped with a turbojet dual-circuit turbojet engine turbojet-50. This engine is also used in the X-59M and X-101 cruise missiles. The drone is able to reach a speed of 0.6 Mach and go to the target at an altitude of up to 8 kilometers. The type and power of the warhead are unknown.
Earlier it was reported that Monochrome is able to actively maneuver on the trajectory and independently search for a target. This, in fact, is its main difference from a cruise missile
