Employees of the Palanka customs post checked the bus traveling from Ukraine to Moldova. With the help of a scanner, contraband was detected — gold bars were found in the luggage.
The driver and passengers (there were 36 people on the bus) stated that they were transporting only personal belongings that did not require a declaration. Based on the analysis, Moldovan customs officers conducted a detailed inspection of the vehicle and luggage using scanning equipment. The inspection was carried out jointly with the Border Guard service and customs authorities of Ukraine.
During the scan, suspicions arose about one of the bags. During physical examination, six ingots of golden metal of different sizes with the inscription FINE GOLD, presumably gold, were found among the clothes.
The bars belong to a 48-year-old citizen of Ukraine. They were seized and sent for examination, after which an appropriate legal decision will be made.
