The Venezuelan authorities imposed a state of emergency after attacks on military bases, the airport and, reportedly, before the Minister of Defense.
The Ministry of Communications and Information of Venezuela announced the introduction of a state of emergency in the country after the explosions in Caracas.
"The government confirmed that explosions were recorded in the civilian and military districts of Caracas, Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira," reports Eldiario.
"The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects and condemns the very serious military aggression committed by the current Government of the United States of America against the Venezuelan territory and population in the civilian and military areas of the city of Caracas, the capital of the Republic, as well as the States of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. This act is a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations, especially its Articles 1 and 2, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of States and the prohibition of the use of force. Such aggression threatens international peace and stability, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean, and seriously endangers the lives of millions of people," the ministry said in a statement.
According to unofficial data, the house of the country's Defense Minister Padrino Lopez was also hit and allegedly he died.
