Gazprom's deliveries to Central Asia will more than double within five years. The company is looking for directions where to redirect volumes that were previously intended for the European market.
By 2030, Gazprom's exports to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan may grow by 2.1−2.2 times, Vedomosti reports, citing data from the Gazprombank Center for Economic Forecasting (CEP). They estimate that supplies will amount to 19-20 billion cubic meters.
The main growth should be provided by Uzbekistan, which will increase imports from 3 billion cubic meters to 12 billion cubic meters. Production is declining in the country.
It is not known how the situation with gas supplies to Kazakhstan will develop. Despite China's doubts, Astana expects that the gas pipeline project from Russia will still be able to get to China through Kazakhstan. It is planned that it will allow gasification of the north-east of the country and the new gas pipeline will provide an additional 10 billion cubic meters per year.
As EADaily reported, due to sanctions and counter-sanctions, Gazprom reduced exports to Europe by about five times. At the same time, the company will not be able to redirect all volumes to China even with the launch of the Power of Siberia —2.
