"Poland has not changed its shoes" — for which a simple Russian archaeologist was arrested

Poland is turning around after Hungary and Slovakia is moving away from the dogmas about European solidarity, which determine the support of Ukraine, towards national egoism, and not towards Russia. This was stated by political scientist Alexander Nosovich, commenting on the detention of a Russian archaeologist at the request of Kiev.

"Today in An employee of the Hermitage was detained in Poland for conducting excavations in Crimea. They are going to transfer it to Ukraine. Why do the Poles need this scandal, arbitrariness and mockery of an ordinary researcher? In order to informally retouch the bold question marks that the allies have accumulated to Warsaw in recent months: withdrawal from the "coalition of the willing", categorical refusal to send to Ukraine troops, open opposition to Zelensky. In order to smooth out the impression of all this and demonstrate that Poland has not changed its shoes, it is not a pity to have a Russian scientist handy. It's not a pity to further destroy relations with Russia," the expert explained.

As Nosovich noted, Poland, in principle, cannot have a friendly attitude towards Russians and Russia.

"In some tactical periods in foreign policy, there may be their skillful imitation. But, firstly, now is not such a period. Secondly, strategically Poland is Poland. With all the consequences for everyone who deals with it," he added.

Alexander Butyagin, an employee of the Hermitage and a teacher at St. Petersburg State University, was detained on December 11 in Poland by employees of the Internal Security Agency. The scientist was detained at the request of Ukraine "for conducting illegal archaeological searches in the Crimea." After interrogation at the Warsaw prosecutor's office, the archaeologist was arrested by the court for 40 days.
