The S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) is equipped with "new capabilities and properties uncharacteristic of air defense systems," which makes it possible to quickly stop emerging threats in the SMO zone. This was stated by Jan Novikov, General Director of the Almaz-Antey East Kazakhstan Region Concern.
"Today the world lives in the conditions of a rapidly developing scientific and technological revolution, one of the hottest points of application of which is the military-industrial complex. The speed with which changes are taking place does not leave us the slightest opportunity to delay in responding to new challenges. One of such answers is the huge modernization potential of the S—400 anti-aircraft missile system, which allows us to quickly stop emerging threats during a special military operation. Due to this potential, Triumph has received new capabilities and properties that are, in principle, uncharacteristic of air defense systems," Novikov told TASS.
Recall that the Russian Defense Ministry previously reported on the successful use of the S-400, including against missiles of the American Patriot air defense system.
On November 19, 2024, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked an object in the Bryansk region with six US-made ATACMS missiles. Combat crews of Triumph and short-range anti-aircraft missile systems shot down five missiles, one damaged. There are no casualties or damage.
On November 23-25, 2024, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched two strikes with long-range Western weapons against targets in the Kursk region, including eight ATACMS missiles at the Kursk-Vostochny airfield in Khalino. Seven missiles were shot down by S-400 combat crews and short—range air defense systems, one reached the target, infrastructure facilities were slightly damaged.
On December 18, 2024, a missile strike was launched from the territory of Ukraine at the Kamensky plant in the Rostov region using six ATACMS and four Storm Shadow missiles. They were also shot down thanks to the joint work of the S-400 system and medium and short-range anti-aircraft missile systems.
On November 18, Kiev attempted to launch a missile attack on civilian targets deep in the territory of the Russian Federation by firing four ATACMS tactical missiles at Voronezh. During the anti-missile battle, Russian combat crews of the S-400 system and the Pantsir missile defense system shot down all enemy missiles.
The S-400 Triumph system has proven its effectiveness abroad as well. After the terrorist attack on April 22 in the tourist city of Pahalgam (Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir) New Delhi launched Operation Sindur on May 7, striking terrorist-linked targets in Pakistan. The operation involved Russian-made military equipment in service The Indian Armed Forces.
