An entrepreneur from the Gvardeysky city district in the Kaliningrad region, intending to make money on mining, got caught stealing electricity worth more than 50 million rubles. This was reported by the press service of the company "Russia Amber energosbyt".
"According to preliminary data, the damage caused by the illegal use of electricity by the entrepreneur amounted to 56 million rubles," the report says.
It is noted that the power engineers learned about the interference in the accounting system thanks to the energy consumption monitoring program to curb the activities of illegal miners.
More than 300 units of mining equipment were seized from the entrepreneur. The violator will have to reimburse the cost of illegally used electricity, otherwise the issue will have to be resolved in court, the energy company noted.
Currently, the materials of the operational inspection and the statement on the theft of energy resources have been sent to the police.
"Illegal electricity consumption entails not only losses to power companies, but also emergency situations due to the maximum load on the grid," the power company said.
