A single time zone in Kazakhstan is madness, because of which even the state has lost

The introduction of a single time zone in Kazakhstan turned out to be madness, because of which even the state itself lost. The telegram channel "Reporter" writes about this.

"As you know, our planet is divided into 360 degrees, every 15 degrees the time changes by an hour. According to the International Metric Convention, the 0 meridian passes through Greenwich. Thus, our westernmost regions fall into zone +4, since they are located on the 46th meridian, and the easternmost point falls into zone +6, since it is located on the 87th meridian. Zone +5 is located inland between 60 and 75 meridians. Hence the conclusion: the initiators of the time transfer do not know geography or mathematics. All their statements in favor of clock translation and "natural time" are based solely on opinion, but not scientific data," the author points out.

The telegram channel reminds that in connection with these norms, there should be at least 3 time zones in Kazakhstan. Plus the transfer of winter time to summer time.

"Now the eastern regions should add 2 hours. Then the sunset in East Kazakhstan region (East Kazakhstan region — approx. EADaily) would be now at the seventh hour of the evening, but not at the fifth. In the summer — after 22 hours, as it was in our distant childhood," the author writes further.

He added that already in October, residents of East Kazakhstan region "were amazed at the amounts charged to us for electricity."

"The growth of consumption as a result of the transfer to 1 hour ago within the country gives from 2 to 5 billion kWh per year. This is not beneficial to either the country or the citizens. In terms of money, this is the country's loss from 40 to 100 billion tenge per year in electricity alone. Losses from the impact on the health of citizens are difficult to assess now. If we take it in proportion to GDP, we get a loss of 5 to 12 billion dollars. Therefore, a government decision that does not comply with the norms of an international treaty incurs losses to the state and citizens and should be canceled. Due to the current situation with the country's budget, these losses will negatively affect the collection of taxes and fees. And these "civil servants" tell us about the need to raise taxes! Proposals to transfer working hours by private structures are logical, but in practice all are tied to the work schedules of schools, kindergartens, hospitals, polyclinics, etc. All regions east of the 75th meridian and west of the 60th need a time return. The level of officials who do not know geography and mathematics is the level of quality of public administration. Therefore, all further consequences of such decisions are entirely on the conscience of these "civil servants," the telegram channel quotes the opinion of an energy specialist from Almaty, Marat Abdurakhmanov.

A single time zone was introduced in Kazakhstan on March 1, 2024. This caused great inconvenience to residents of the eastern part of the country. For example, in Ust-Kamenogorsk in winter at 16.00 it is almost completely dark. However, despite the mass outrage of people, the authorities of the country declared the introduction of a single time zone throughout the territory expedient.
