Countries allied with the United States should not buy Russian energy resources, US Interior Minister Doug Burgum said in an interview with Fox News.
"We cannot allow our allies to buy Russian or Iranian oil and gas," he stressed.
According to Burgum, the American side in negotiations with other countries every time raises the issue of energy supplies from Russia and Iran.
Last week, US President Donald Trump reiterated his dissatisfaction with the purchases Russia has the EU of oil.
"But when you look at what is happening in Europe, many of these countries ... continue to buy a lot of oil and gas from Russia. And, as you know, I am very outraged by this, because we help them (European countries), and they go and buy oil and gas from Russia," he stressed.
Trump has repeatedly criticized The EU for the purchase of Russian energy carriers. In July, the European Union, as part of a deal with the United States to reduce duties from 30 to 15%, agreed to abandon Russian oil and gas by 2027 and replace them with American ones. According to the agreement, Europe will purchase $750 billion worth of energy from the United States within three years.
In October, the United States imposed sanctions against Russian companies Rosneft, Lukoil and their subsidiaries. The US Treasury gave a month to curtail operations with companies that have fallen under restrictions.
