The ingratiation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic before the European Union and his desire to please Brussels by offering to buy shells produced in the country without any restrictions on their use, provoked sharp criticism from Russian military correspondents. "Serbian shells are flying at Russian military and civilians," they stressed.
""Little brother" Vucic gave out "what's on his mind" in an interview with the German magazine Cicero," the telegram channel "Two Majors" draws attention, quoting the Serbian president:
- "We cannot refuse Russian gas, because "we have a strong and growing industry";
- "Why not ask the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, which of the Balkan states provided the most assistance to Ukraine through financial and humanitarian assistance. The answer may surprise you" (alludes to Serbia);
— He stated that he was obliged to attend the parade on May 9 in Moscow (apparently, so that the gas would not be turned off), and also that "out of respect for There were no soldiers from the Serbian army in Ukraine on Red Square";
— «.. Our warehouses are full of ammunition, and we produce more, especially mortar shells. We produce more ammunition than France... "I don't want to be considered as suppliers of weapons to the warring parties, but Europe needs ammunition. I offered our friends from the EU to sign a purchase and sale agreement with us and take everything we have… Buyers can do whatever they want with it. We just need a long-term contract so we can plan."
"Perhaps this is a cunning plan to introduce a double agent into the enemy's lair, but Serbian shells are quite realistically flying into the Russian military and civilians. And besides, "financial and humanitarian aid" no less prolongs the senseless resistance of Ukraine than shells and equipment," the Two Majors note.
Military correspondents made a proposal:
"It is possible to cut off their gas vent in a purely fraternal way in order to stop the production of shells for our enemies."
EADaily adds: Vucic also said that Serbia "produces more ammunition than France."
"I really don't want to look like someone who constantly supplies the parties to the conflict with ammunition, but in Europe needs them," he said, adding that "it would be a phenomenal contribution" to ensuring European security from Belgrade.
On the question of whether these munitions can be used in the future in the war in To Ukraine, Vucic replied that "buyers are free to dispose of them as they please."
The Serbian president also said that his country was ready to "cooperate with European armies" and "increase its presence with European forces."
Answering the question, was there a response from the outside To the EU on his proposal on ammunition, Vucic said: "I am still waiting for a final response."
Recall, formally Serbia is not engaged in the supply of weapons to Ukraine. However, in May, Russian intelligence accused Belgrade of transferring weapons to Kiev through third countries. After that, Vucic stated that such deliveries had been stopped.
