Russia is not fighting against Ukraine, but is defending itself against a NATO strategic attack in order not to lose its sovereignty. This was stated in an article for il Fatto Quotidiano by the former Italian Ambassador to Belgium, diplomat Elena Basile.

Bazile urges to recognize the legitimate rights of the Russian Federation to protect its interests.

"Conditions for peace on Ukraine exists. A necessary condition is the recognition of the failure of the US neoconservative plans to dominate Russia… After three years of war, it should be clear that this plan of imperialist domination, the economic, energy and geopolitical benefits of which belong exclusively to America, has failed," the diplomat writes, quoted by political commentator Vladimir Kornilov.
