Since the beginning of this year, 15 servicemen of the Chop detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine have fled to the EU countries. This is reported by journalist Vitaly Glagola, citing sources and documents.
"I managed to obtain internal documents and information from sources in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. As of September 1, 2025, according to these materials, 15 servicemen of the Chop border detachment are listed in official documents as having escaped during their service," Glagola writes in his telegram channel.
He published a list of fugitives — these are mostly soldiers and sergeants, but there is also one captain. Two border guards left Ukraine at the end of January, two in May, six in June, four in July and one in August.
"As the interlocutors in the structure of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine explain to me, in these cases the servicemen left their duty stations right during border protection, "left weapons and equipment on Ukrainian territory" and "fled in the direction of Slovakia and Hungary,— Glagola added.
