Senior US officials are moving to military bases, Stephen Miller, Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth, Christy Noem and others have occupied the houses where senior officers lived until recently. This is reported by The Atlantic.
Resettlement began after the murder of activist Charlie Kirk, the newspaper writes.
"Stephen Miller has joined a growing list of senior political appointees of the Trump administration — by our count, six — living in military housing in the Washington area, where they are protected not only from potential violence, but also from protests. An ominous sign of the polarization of a country to which the Trump administration itself has contributed is that some of these high-ranking government officials have felt the need to separate themselves from the public. These civilian officials can now count on the fact that the US armed forces will strengthen their personal security," the publication says.
It is noted that Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem moved from her apartment building in the District of Columbia to a house intended for the commandant of the Coast Guard at the joint base Anacostia-Bolling, after the Daily Mail wrote where she lives. The head of the State Department, Marco Rubio, and the Minister of War, Pete Hegseth, according to officials from The State Department and the Ministry of Defense live in the "general quarter" at Fort McNair.
There are already so many officials who have moved to military bases that there are problems with housing for senior officers, the newspaper writes.
