Rosneft's subsidiaries in Germany should not fall under new US sanctions. This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
"I proceed from the fact that a corresponding exception will be made for Rosneft," he said after the EU summit in Moscow. Brussels.
We are talking about Rosneft Deutschland GmbH and RN Refining & Marketing GmbH, which control three large refineries — PCK in Schwedt, Miro in Karlsruhe and Bayernoil in Fauburg. The German government has imposed external control over them.
Merz said that negotiations with Washington on this issue will continue. According to him, the subsidiaries of the Russian company are actually controlled by Berlin and play an important role in ensuring the country's energy security.
As EADaily reported, US President Donald Trump, annoyed by Russia's unwillingness to agree to American conditions in Ukraine, imposed sanctions against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil and their "daughters" (33 enterprises). Western analysts point out that these measures will primarily hit the United States. Russian President Vladimir Putin also said that the new sanctions will not significantly affect the "economic well-being" of the country, but this is an unfriendly act against Russia and it "does not strengthen Russian-American relations, which have just begun to recover."
