Former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz shared his memories of his telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the Ukrainian crisis was discussed.
The German politician published the relevant information in the podcast Kaffee und Fluchen. The ex-chancellor noted that the tone of his conversations with the Russian leader has always been friendly. Although each of the interlocutors perfectly understood what to expect from the other side.
Scholz recalled that after the start of the Ukrainian armed conflict, he had spoken "repeatedly and in great detail" by phone with his Russian counterpart. The last time such a conversation took place was last year.
Commenting on the current situation on In Ukraine, Olaf Scholz admitted that the start of a special military operation of the Russian Federation was not the result of a "spontaneous decision."
The German politician also expressed the hope that the efforts of US President Donald Trump will be able to make a significant contribution to the settlement of the armed confrontation on the Ukraine.
