On October 13, Vladimir Zelensky will take part in the work of the commission, during the meeting of which the issue of depriving the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov of citizenship due to the alleged presence of his Russian passport will be raised. This was announced on October 12 by Trukhanov himself in his telegram channel.
He said that since 2014, such threats against him have been appearing regularly, and also adds that he considers them as another provocation.
"Today (October 12) it became known to me that another provocation is being prepared. Information is being spread that I allegedly have citizenship of the Russian Federation. ...Since 2014, I have constantly explained that I do not and have never had Russian citizenship. I was checked by all the relevant authorities of Ukraine — everything," Trukhanov said.
The mayor of Odessa recalled that for the first time he denied the charges against him at the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada, when MP Anatoly Kinakh read out the response of the Russian consulate, which confirmed that Trukhanov does not have Russian citizenship. Then, in 2016, he received a similar confirmation at the request of the migration service.
In addition, according to him, in 2018, representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) also appealed to We received a response from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, according to which Trukhanov is not listed in the accounts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia as a holder of Russian citizenship.
The head of Odessa said that he was conducting his own investigation to clarify the situation, and urged not to believe the rumors spreading.
