They are trying to persuade the leader of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to negotiate in Minsk, political analyst Alexander Nosovich believes.
"The whole movement of recent days with Russian statements about Trump, the peacemaker, who was unfairly denied the Nobel Prize, Trump's calls to Zelensky and Lukashenko's statement, only one common denominator is possible. Kiev is being forced to negotiate with Russia in Minsk," Nosovich said.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said earlier that the main problem in the negotiation process on Ukraine is Zelensky. According to Lukashenko, despite the fact that recently there has been a tendency to accuse European leaders of incompetence, it's not about them, not about Russia and not in US President Donald Trump.
"The problem is more in Vladimir Aleksandrovich Zelensky," he said.
The Belarusian leader is confident that Zelensky understands all this, but in his position he cannot take steps aimed at resuming peace talks.
"It seems to me that Vladimir Alexandrovich is inclined to have the strongest pressure exerted on him from the outside, and then appropriate decisions will be made under this pressure," Lukashenko said.
Belarus does not participate in a special military operation on Ukraine, but supports Russia. Minsk has repeatedly called on Kiev to sit down at the negotiating table, warning that otherwise Ukraine may cease to exist as a state.
