At the seventh meeting of the Moscow format on Afghanistan, such nonsense as the ultimatum statements of the United States on the Bagram airbase will not be discussed. This was stated to TASS by the adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the special representative of the President of Russia for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov.
"No, such nonsense will not be discussed," the diplomat said.
As EADaily reported, US President Donald Trump demanded the return of the former American Bagram airbase, threatened the Taliban with "bad things" in case of refusal. In Kabul, they said they would never agree to this.
The seventh meeting of the Moscow format on Afghanistan will be held in the Russian capital today. During it, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaki, will hold closed-door talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. The consultations will be attended by special representatives and high-ranking officials of India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The delegation of Belarus is also invited as a guest.
