Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is the most harmful politician for the EU. This was stated by former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Merkel was criticized after she stated that in June 2021 she had the impression that Vladimir Putin "no longer takes the Minsk agreements seriously," and therefore she, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, "wanted a new format" to "talk to Putin directly on behalf of the EU."

"But not everyone supported it. First of all, the Baltic countries and Poland opposed it, fearing the lack of a common policy towards Russia," Merkel said.

"Angela Merkel proved with her thoughtless interview that she is one of the German politicians who have caused the greatest harm to Europe over the past century," said Mateusz Morawiecki.

Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalencz, Minister of Finance and Regional Policy of the Poland 2050 party, said it was absurd to blame the war on the fact that someone did not sit down at the negotiating table with Russia in time and did not bow low enough to it."

"If Merkel declares that she wants to negotiate with Putin again, it will probably end with the division of Ukraine! They don't understand that by doing business with Putin, they provoked a war!" said MEP Waldemar Buda.

The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament also spoke, unequivocally pointing out that Angela Merkel blames the countries of the Baltic States and Poland "in unleashing an imperial war by Russia."
